On my way to the third event of the PWA Slalom season. Looking forward to some good racing as the forecast looks very promising for the first days of the event. Looking back to the first two events:
I had a decent start at Vietnam finishing 14th. The event mainly happened on the morning of the very last day. We did three eliminations and i got into to two finals that day. We had an early round in marginal winds that i did crap as i had a false start on the first heat.
I didnt have great starts at the finals so i could not really get good results eventhough i had pretty decent speed. I use my 35 Ifju on this two rounds with my 111 Falcon and my 7.8 North Warp.
In Korea, the wind was going from 12 to 25 kts in the first leg, so the equipment to choose was very critical. Mainly the fleet was sticking to their 7.8s and 111s boards…I used my 7.0, 111 and 35 Ifju combo the first day. I scored a 10th and 8th.
On the next two rounds i raced on my 7.8 and i changed to my 38 Ifju on my 111. I was not that sharp at the starts so i scored a 14 and 22.5. On the fifth elimination i finsih 5 on the loosers giving me a 13 score, ending up on 12th at this event.
Coming into Costa Brava, i have dialed in a bit more to my new equipment (NorthSails/Fanatic) so I expect to be more consistent and score some more finals.
I have some new IFJU’s so hopefully me speed will increase a little bit.
See you,
Gonzalo Costa Hoevel
